Tracy DeVries
Tracy DeVries is a distinguished graduate of the renowned Academy for Dog Trainers. Over the past several years, she has passionately collaborated with rescues, fostering and training over 40 dogs. Alongside her in-person dog training services, Tracy is the visionary behind “A New Leash On Life,” a pioneering program empowering female inmates living at a correctional facility in Mississippi, to learn how to care for foster dogs.
Tracy’s expertise spans basic obedience and tackling behavioral challenges like fear, leash reactivity, and resource guarding. Her personalized training programs have restored hope and freedom to countless dogs and their owners. With Tracy’s guidance, solutions for various behavior issues are found, and basic obedience skills are honed, even amidst distractions.
When she’s not immersed in dog training, you’ll often find her dedicating time to rescues, diving into a good book, or enjoying a good swim on warm, sunny days. With 25 years of experience in non-profit leadership, she’s also passionate about consulting with organizations. Above all, she adores spending quality time with her beloved furry companions, dogs, and cats, nurturing their well-being and strengthening their bond.
Tracy adopted River, a senior dog with a decade-long shelter stay, and before that, a life lived on the streets. Initially shy and fearful, River caught Tracy’s eye at the shelter and that’s when Tracy knew she needed to bring him home.
Despite the challenges of a shut-down dog without experience in obedience or even simply taking a few steps on a leash, Tracy persisted, laying the groundwork for her journey as a successful dog trainer.
Through “River’s Walk,” Tracy honed her skills as a top-tier trainer, helping numerous dogs and their owners overcome behavior challenges and achieve their training goals.
